**The Salty Dog started life as a beachside motel built in the 1960s on the foreshore at Kingston Beach.
**For decades it was a fixture of the local community - a casual spot on the water where locals gathered, families came for a feed, and the beach was always just out the front door. A little rough and ready; a product of it's time and a stalwart of the Kingborough community.
Between 2022-25 the venue underwent a major redevelopment, staying true to it's roots by celebrating it's mid-century architecture and unique location.
Today the Salty Dog is one of Southern Tasmania's best known venues, not as rough and ready as the original, but still just as iconic.
